Former Nebraska senator continues listening tour in South Sioux City

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - Former Nebraska State Senator Lynne Walz was in South Sioux City on Friday, Dec. 12 morning, for stop number 6 of her statewide listening tour.

The tour is part of her exploratory campaign for a possible run for Nebraska’s governor in 2026.

Walz, who ran for lieutenant governor in 2018, said it’s important to hear the needs of people across the state.

“The one thing I learned from the run for the Lieutenant Governor was how important it was to get out to communities across Nebraska and make sure that they understand that they’re being heard,” Walz said. “This is not a campaign about me or my aspirations. This is a campaign about the people who live in Nebraska.”

Walz gave people the chance to voice their concerns over a number of topics, including health care, education and the economy.

She said having an open discussion helps to bring the community together.

“One of the things I’m really excited about as I’m going across Nebraska, community to community, is bringing neighbors together and being able to have conversations, civil conversations, coming up with ideas, people talking to me about what matters most to them,” Walz said. “So that’s the main goal.”

The tour was also scheduled to make stops Friday in Norfolk and Columbus.
