Larry is a native of Blue Earth, Minnesota. During his time at Iowa State University, he began his broadcasting career at WHO Radio News in 1976 and later transitioned to WHO-TV News.
During his years in journalism he has served as a main anchor, news director, managing editor and reporter at stations from Des Moines to Eau Claire and Green Bay Wisconsin. He first came to Sioux City and KTIV in 1991 to replace Dave Nixon Sr. at the anchor desk. During his years in Sioux City, Larry has also anchored at KCAU-TV and KMEG-TV, returning to KTIV in June 2023.
Larry and his wife Lola have four children. His sons are Chris and Kelly Wentz and he has two grandchildren, Ava and Nolan Wentz. Lola has two sons, Keenan and Quintin Crow.
